Dimensional Analysis and Reverse Engineering

What makes SSi so different from other manufacturers?

Our cellular manufacturing cells are a completely different entity when compared to traditional manufacturing environments.  Manufacturing departments in a traditional plant environment perform a specific operation or task (ie: grinding, milling, or assembly) utilizing workers who have developed a single skill or craft.  Manufacturing cells, however, are designed to provide complete products to an internal customer (another manufacturing cell) or external customers (you).  Cells perform several operations or tasks and require a  multi-skilled flexible group of workers.  In the manufacturing organization, cells produce products ranging from complete components (ie; showers, boxes, etc) to any range of sub-assemblies.

By definition, a manufacturing cell is a focused team of individuals and equipment which is organized and empowered to provide a complete product to either an internal or external customer when the customer requires it, in the correct quantity, with zero defects.

Our cellular manufacturing organization is flat when compared to traditional plant hierarchy to improve communication and provide an unobstructed flow of information throughout the system  Our manufacturing plant has one layer of management (the Cell Leader) between the Plant Manager and the team member.
